Utilizing SLFM |
You can start SLFM two ways:
By selecting the SLFM icon from the desktop menubar.
Typing slfm and pressing enter within any xterm.
Either way, you will be presented with the 'Log browser' dialog box.

Lets you refresh the current directory. Any modifications to the current directory since your last directory view will be displayed.
Lets you select the desired log source directory. 'Local Dir.' is the master directory on the RAID Server. 'User Dir.' is the user's directory. The List Box associated with the 'User Dir.' radiobutton allows the administrator to select a different user. The default is the current user. 'Cdrom Drive' is the local CD-ROM drive. If the CD-ROM drive radio button is selected, and there is no medium available, the user will be presented with the following dialog box.

Lets you view the log files within the directory selected by the user. Clicking on 'Log File' button will sort the log files in hexadecimal order. Clicking on 'Modified' will sort the modification date in hexadecimal order. The 'Comments' button will do the same for the listed comments. Clicking on any of these buttons twice, will reverse the order of the display.
Lets you quit out of the application.
This button does not do anything on this dialog box.
This button allows you to go to the 'Options' dialog box. A Scenario must be selected in order for the 'Next' button to be active.
This button allows you access the SLFM Handbook.
This button allows you access SLFM's about box.

Lets you select the desired action for the log file in relationship to the source and destination directories.
Lets you select the desired scenario destination directory by selecting the appropriate radio button. 'Local Dir.' is the master directory on the RAID Server. 'User Dir.' is the user's directory. If the CD-ROM medium is not available, the user will be presented with the following dialog box.

Lets you view and change the log file's name selected by the user on the 'Log browser' dialog box.
Lets you quit out of the application.
This button allows the user to go back to the 'Log browser' dialog box.
This button allows you to perform the desired action on the log file. One of the following dialog boxes will be presented to the user.
The 'Copying...' dialog box will be displayed when a succesful copy is in progress. Clicking on 'Cancel' will exit the application and abort the copy. Once the scenario copy is completed, the 'Copy ' dialog box will be closed.
This warning dialog box will be displayed when the log file already exists. The user is asked "Do you want to overwrite it?" If 'Yes' is selected, the log file is overwritten. If 'No' is selected, the action is cancelled and the program is exited.

This information dialog box will be displayed when the log file has been sucessfully deleted.
